We were sad to see Grandma and Grandpa Sakai leave yesterday :( The girls started a home daycare out in Cupertino earlier this week and I miss the girls terribly. I had anxiety days before they went to daycare and I still worry tons about them I guess that's just part of being a parent.
Derek takes them to and from the daycare which is out some ways from his workplace, so I have to wait to see my girls when I get home. We have more of a hectic schedule starting from this week on as I see less of the twins :( and my time is spent on getting home to Emi so she can do her "thing" (poor girl!). So many things to do and so little time it can get overwhelming at times, so more than ever Der and I really appreciated having his parents come and help! Heck they even gave us a date day :D we finally got to see "Juno"!

Rainforest Jumperoo
The girls got a new toy to share this weekend the rainforest jumperoo. At first we put Sophie in the jumperoo and she had some help from grandma, daddy, and mommy (we took turns trying to get Soph to figure it out while grandpa was filming with his video camera). By the end of the day Sophie was not only a pro, but gave entertainment to the adults as well. Hannah didn't know what to make of it and by the end of the day she was not happy to be in it. Funny how the girls are so opposite.
Tonight we fed Hannah more green beans and she ate all of her serving, for Sophie I gave her half a jar of peas since she didn't like the green beans. It's so exciting to feed them baby food and see which ones they like.
Tomorrow will be a new adventure for the girls as they experience their first day at a home daycare. I've been having major anxiety about it, but out of all the places we interviewed I felt most comfortable with this one. I guess I will always feel this way if I'm not with them myself.

Green beans?
Finally found a food that Sophie doesn't like and that's green beans. We may try it again, but the faces she made were of pure dislike. Grandpa Sakai got it on film. Hannah surprisingly liked it after the first few bites and a few funny faces later. No pictures taken on our end because we were feeding sort of in tandem.
New things to eat and playtime
I usually only take one of the girls over to the Ko's place as I only have one set of arms. Lately it's been Sophie more so than Hannah because Hannah has been having tummy issues. Hannah is a trooper though she usually feels better within a day. We started baby food on Tuesday of this week. I was hesitant to give the girls peas, but they loved it. Strange because as a child I think I really disliked veggies, but I'm glad they don't take after me in that way. Next we tried carrots and they like that as well. Next on the meal agenda is more carrots and peas, squash, green beans, and some sweet potatoes. I figure after all of that we'll continue on to some fruits which I'm excited about.

Weekend Review
Saturday was spent running errands and going to a kid's birthday party (parents went solo) as the grandparents watched the babies. Sunday we took the grandparents to the Mountain View Farmer's Market. It was so cold outside that there wasn't too much of a crowd at the market, we did find great organic veggies, organic fruits, desserts, and honey. For lunch we ate at Boston Market since there is none in Hawaii and we thought that might be good since the GP's weren't adventurous enough to eat some Indian food (come on grandma and grandpa!). Then we hit up a Japanese supermarket called Nijiya since there are no Japanese supermarkets that we know of near our house in Hayward. Whew!
On Saturday we did manage to buy a cute high chair since the girls are starting to eat some solid foods. Tomorrow I will be more courageous and let Soph and Hann eat something other than cereals. Try some peas, the next day hopefully some carrots, and then some sweet potatoes. If all goes well the girls will be moving onto fruits.

My Little Bird and Rolly Polly
My little bird is Hannah and my rolly polly girl is Sophie. Hannah coo's like a little bird and obviously Soph Soph is my chubby cute baby. Yes, I find myself talking baby talk and I feel silly, but the girls love it. They also love when I sing to them, but for the life of me I can't remember the lyrics to children songs, so I start making up my own. I'm sure if you heard me you might think I sound as ludicrous as the guy that sang his own song on American Idol (he was dressed in white like a pimp daddy) either way the girls love it and that's all that matters :P
I've also been reading some books that friends and relatives gave to the twins. "Where's Baby's Belly Button?", "Brown Bear...", etc Sophie and Hannah really like reading books (look at me saying they read the books, more like when I read it to them).
Next on the horizon is getting the high chair. We've been feeding the girls in the bumbo or in the stationary walker. I've been so indecisive on which high chair I want, but I figure this weekend I need to just make up my mind and go with it since I'm getting tired of cleaning up their toys sprayed with rice cereal and oatmeal.
Grandma and Grandpa Sakai have been watching the girls while we're away. It's still tough being away from the girls for so long, but I think Der and I will take a "date" time while we have the opportunity. Mind you we haven't taken much time away from the girls since they have been born, so I'm not sure I can actually go through with it, but we'll see ;P

More friends :)
The girls had a lot of friends come to see them :) Mark, Berry and their child Eamon; Anna, Benson, and their baby Ethan; and our friend Aunty Neren. It was nice to see everyone and hopefully there will be more get togethers for play dates and adult conversations too!

nene and some changes
The girls have been pretty set on their schedule throughout the day, but there is one thing we need to work on and that's bedtime at night. I sit here at 11:23 p.m. as Der is playing the mobile for the girls and trying to get them to sleep in the dark. Why am I up? I made the mistake of drinking coffee in the p.m.
Some news after hunting high and low and at our wits end we finally found a daycare. It's a bit out of the ways, but it's in a nice area. The woman and her family seem like nice people, the facility is clean and bright, and we can afford it amazingly enough. We will be very sad to see our nanny go, but we wish her the best of luck in the future.
Grandma and grandpa Sakai are coming to visit and help watch the girls for a while. We are all excited and very, very grateful once again!!!

Family Fun
Who said Monday has to be blue? We made the best of the day even after failing to find a replacement sitter or daycare today. Our nanny has been gracious enough to stay on for the rest of the week, but with the way things are going we probably might not find a solution by the end of this week.
The girls were in a great mood today, they laughed and smiled alot. Our nanny got Hannah to talk more and be more interactive which made me even more sad that she will not be with us. Anyway off the sad stuff and onto good stuff. I'm slowly transitioning into the work week again easing back into the grove of things, but it hasn't been pain free. Besides my hiccup last week, the only painful thing is missing the babies! How do working mothers do it? I find if I see pictures of them it makes me want to see them more, so I haven't at the moment stuck any pictures of them up at work. Maybe one day I'll get over being silly like that and bring a pic and frame to work.
Sophie with some oatmeal on her chin. Who can resist that face or cross eye hahaha just kidding baby mommy loooooves you!!!

Fell on Black Days
Soundgarden used to be my favorite band in the 90's and this song sounds appropriate for the week I experienced. They say bad things happen in threes let's hope that is the case.
#1 - Mommy's home computers all died due to hardware failure (harddrive on all three computers?! 2 laptops and one desktop thus no entries for a while).
#2 - Things didn't work out for the childcare solution. This was the saddest of all.
#3 - Mommy's first week back at work and already caused an issue.
The girls and I are optimistic about the coming week as daddy has been interviewing a bunch of new daycares and hopefully all will return to some sort of normalcy.
Hannah eating for the first time some rice cereal (although she's been drinking Enfamil AR so technically she's been eating it).
