Flu season

Flu season has hit the Sakai household...first Hannah, then Sophie, and now Derek. The succession is always the same. After everyone is well, I usually get it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, taking my vitamins, and keeping my spirits high hoping that I do not get this.

Here Hannah is so exhausted that she crashed on the carpet and Emi decided to keep her company. My poor babies!

Quick Weekend

Weekends seem to come and go like the wind, so fast... The girls had fun this weekend just chilling at home since it was rainy. Other than some weekend errands and Gymboree; we stayed at home and had lots of fun playing with some new toys and playing with Auntie Flo and Uncle Ray.

Silly Family

I was thinking I've been neglecting the girls' blog lately due to Facebook addictions, but tonight I took a break from that and busted out the camera.

Sophie has been picking up more and more words. She can communicate to me whether or not she's hungry, when she's done, tell Hannah to sshhhhh because she's being too loud, when she wants me to read a book to her, likes to pick up lint or dirt on the ground and tell me it's dirty (very embarassing when at someone's house), etc. I've been trying to teach her something new each day and she is a little sponge. She's mommy's little helper too and wants to help clean or pick something up for me. Lastly she is the comedian out of the two and has me laughing everyday.

Hannah has almost all of her teeth in and she is still fussy because of all the pain. She has quite a bit of an appetite lately and I try to let her eat as much as she wants to because she is still only 19 lbs and cannot sit forward like Sophie can in the car. Hannah loves animals and takes to learning them in sign language and to verbally speak it. Her favorite animal to say and sign for the moment is bird. Although when she signs it she points her fingers towards her instead of away. Hannah loves to help mommy too, although she is a bit of a prankster. She will pick the item up, come to me and run at the last second with the item. She likes to feed herself and doesn't really take to people feeding her. Miss Hann just recently learn to steady her spoon so well that she can eat yogurt :) She is the shy one of the two and will cling to mommy until she believes it's ok to explore.

The girls are complete opposites of each other. Sophie is very friendly and out going, Hannah isn't. Hannah likes fruits and veggies, Sophie not so much. Sophie is an early sleeper, Hannah is not. Sophie is aggressive, Hannah isn't. The list can go on, but you get the picture.

Soph Soph does not like the camera flash and will look down 99.5% of the time. Time to get a faster lens camera.

Look at Hannah's full set of teeth!!!

Hannah looks like mommy, but has expressions like daddy.

I distracted Sophie by putting a box on her head to look at me hahahaha!

Our family portrait.

We're a silly bunch!

Dizzy bunch of twins and two parents laughing.

Children's Discovery Museum

Everyday I learn something new and what I find is that Northern California is very intuned with having places for babies and toddlers to go to play and learn. If not for the miniature playgrounds made for specific age groups at public parks, play and learn lessons, museums all over the valley, cafes where there are play areas for toddlers, party places specifically for toddlers and babies, etc. I can't imagine how I didn't notice these places before having a baby, but good Lord there is also real live clubs that have "disco baby" get togethers. As we go through our checklist of places we want to go to we found another place besides Gymboree and the Oakland zoo that we would like to frequent and that is the CDM (Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose).

It wasn't the first time we went here (we went during the Christmas holidays), but it was much better as we went early in the morning and left while the crowds were coming in and this time we didn't forget the camera.

The girls really enjoyed the new attraction called "Out on a Limb" (nature and art) which opened today (we didn't take any pics of it). They played with fake leaves which they put into a tube that blew the leaves up into the air and they used a rake to sweep up all the leaves just to do it all over again. Hannah enjoyed running around and climbing a tree house. What I learned is that Hannah has gotten really fast on her feet hahahah! Sophie was more fixed on the fake insects and leaves. Sophie did really well with sharing with other kids, I was very proud of her.

They also hit up the water area, the play area for 4 yrs and under, and did some painting on the wall. We ended up eating at Sushi Maru in Japan town for lunch and the girls crashed out in the car soon after and took a very long nap at home too! In mommy and daddy's book that was a very successful day.

Sophie in the mirrored play area. Looks like a disco huh?

Tea time! Funny how the plates are Chinese plates and there were plastic dim sum too!

In the dark tunnel to discover stars, glowing stones, and mirrors.

Oooh a water cyclone and balls what more can we ask for?

Mommy helps Sophie put some balls into the water tornado.

Wheeeeeee!

More fun with balls this time without water. Some kid went a little psycho on Hannah and wanted to tackle her (you can't see it from that view), but his mom stopped him. Der got on video hahahaha!

Here the girls have a pretend meal with another girl.

Teething is not fun!

The weather has gotten pretty windy and cold this weekend, so we spent it indoors.

Sophie has a pin in her hair, her hair is growing so fast.

Hannah has been in pain with all the teeth coming in.

We play nicely with each other :)
