Half Moon Bay and Jack

The girls love watching "Jack's Big Music Show" and it seems every time I have my camera they don't seem to perform. They both dance and sing the theme. I did catch a partial sing and dance as you see below.

Today I went to get my hair done at Mizu salon in Half Moon Bay with Ms. Yamanaka. It was a colder day, but it was nice. The girls got to run around, eat come grapes and cookies and hopefully we didn't drive Auntie Carla too crazy. We did enjoy talking to the locals and seeing some fellow corgi owners and corgis. Daddy did a great job watching the twins :)

Hannah slept when we got home and woke up late to eat some mum mum. Here she shows her pearly whites for the appreciation of having dinner.

We parked in front of a bed and breakfast called Mill Rose Inn in HMB. I couldn't resist taking pictures of it especially because the bunnies out front were just too cute. The whole thing reminded me of the Gilmore girls Lorelai's inn!

The weather is getting HOT fast!

The weather had us beat this weekend as the girls were fussy and hot and well mommy was too. Sophie had a growth spurt and is on to the next size and trying to coordinate with the seasons is a little trickier here than back home. I had bought two long pants for Sophie a while back and now I think it was mistake as I should've bought shorts. These days I find that I'm looking for ease of "putting it on" than "how cute it looks".

The girls did have fun playing at the park in the Hayward hills in the sandbox until Mr. Sun made it unbearable to be without shade. Yesterday we took the girls to the playground near city hall in Hayward and it was more for older kids, but all in all they enjoyed themselves.

Happy Easter!

Today we went to Gymboree, had lunch with Auntie Flo and Frances, took a nice walk, and played at our housing complex jungle gym. This weekend was really fun and the weather was beautiful once again, too bad it went by so quickly.

Sophie's impression of Yoko Ono.

Hannah had spilled her entire cup of watered down juice in the minivan all over herself while on our way to eat lunch in San Jose with Auntie Flo guys. We couldn't take a naked baby to lunch, so mommy stopped by Walmart (Target was closed) and bought a cute cheap $7 outfit! Here she shows off her outfit and the sandbox toys I bought for the girls.

Sophie shows off her toy too! She loves propel so much she drank most of the bottle.

Here Hannah tries to drink the bottle of propel with the cap on, that's how much she loves it too hahahahah!

The girls finally moved to the big tub in the bathroom and yes there are more bath toys mommy couldn't resist to get. Sophie loves bath time, if you tell her, "bath?" she goes towards the stairs to get up to the bathroom.

Hannah used to be afraid of the big tub, but no more she loves taking a bath and saying her alphabet.

Our First Easter Egg Hunt

Thanks to Auntie Adel and Uncle Ervin we attended two Easter celebrations - one in Union City and one in Castro Valley. We missed the first hunt and caught the second. The girls had a lot of fun with Adel and her family. Aiden was so sweet to the girls (he gave them some of the eggs he had).

The weather was nice as the rain stopped for the first time this week and although it was a little chilly the sun warmed us all. The girls got to play in sand for the first time today in Castro Valley and they were so into it. People stopped to watch them as Sophie and Hannah really were fixated on the sand. People were really friendly at both events and stopped to ask about the twins :)

We missed the action, but Aiden was nice enough to give the girls one egg each. Sophie and Hannah in their Spring outfits.

The girls wait around while mommy and daddy figure out what to do next.

Great Entertainers

The girls have started to make phrases and understand what mommy is saying to them. The communication is quickly accelerating and everyday they learn something new. I cannot begin to list everything they do, say, or sign (as in sign language), but I have to say Derek and I are very entertained.

Their favorite book at the moment is "I Spy in the Jungle". Hannah likes to roar like a jaguar and Sophie likes to say elephant. Hannah loves Nemo (can't get enough of the movie) and Sophie loves the color yellow (she colors everything in yellow and likes to say yellow). Both girls like to say part of the hiragana (Japanese alphabet). Sophie can say peach in Japanese (momo). The song they like me singing to them at night is the Umbrella song from Gymboree and I use their blanket to emulate the umbrella.

Both Sophie and Hannah like helping me do things and will put things away or get things for me. This morning I needed Hannah to come to the car and Sophie ran to get her and pushed her toward me. They both took a liking recently to drinking propel and they like drinking "my" water, however if I give them a cup of water for themselves they will not drink it...in other words they only want to drink or eat whatever mommy is having.

Other tidbits:

The twins like singing and can sing parts of the Alphabet song and Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

They put their right hand over their heart as I say the Pledge of Alligence.

They like to call out to Kiki and Emi in the morning.

They tell me "off" for shoes or socks (they can sign both items).

Say "Ne Ne" (Japanese for sleep) and sign bed for going to sleep at night.

They are not homebodies and will get very fussy if they don't go out.

They love taking a bath. And will run up the stairs and say "bath!"

If they do something wrong and I send one baby to the time out spot the other will follow.

Heavy Metal Sunday

Today we went to our usual Gymboree where we met up with Ethan and Uncle Benson and Gymbo. Daddy dressed us today as you can see. The onesie and shirt is a present from Uncle Calvin and Auntie Stacie. Because daddy dressed us, mommy was adamant that we wear our flower hairpins, you can see why from the photos.

Later we went to Ryder park in San Mateo to celebrate Uncle Micah's birthday and it was a beautiful day. There was a cool playground, but most of the playground was for older kids. The girls had fun chasing birds, running around the grassy area, looking at airplanes, and playing with Ray, Flo, Vincy, Micah, Eric, etc. Mommy got a little too much sun, but was well enough to write this entry hahahha!

Mommy fed us some great baked char siu bau and lemon bites.

Auntie Vincy smelled our heads, but we still love her. Here Hannah finally warms up to Auntie Vincy.

Our First Haircut

We're 19 months old and finally mommy could not take our scraggly hair, so she did some research off of Yelp and found this great place in Fremont called "Little Scissors". The lady was quick and nicely explained everything to mommy making her feel at ease. Mommy didn't want us to look like little boys, but all in all it was for the best. I think we'll most likely go back to Little Scissors in the future as I think the lady did a great job.

Little did we know that we had a really long day ahead of us... Mommy took us for our haircut at 9 a.m., then we went shoe shopping for Sophie and mommy. Daddy just browsed. Mommy also bought socks and girly pins (she wants people to know we're girls with our new hairdos). Then we had Chinese food for lunch at the Rickshaw (yes, cheesy name for a fast food joint) and played for a bit at Lauren's house.

After a quick break, we headed to the Union City Park and got to run around. We ran literally all over the park, explored the area looking at flowers, people playing tennis, talking to new friends, watching planes and helicopters, etc. Later we stopped over at Auntie Adel's house where we got to hear Aiden sing to us "God Bless America". We got to try for the first time organic chocolate milk and had fun playing with Aiden's toys. Thank you Auntie Adel!!!

The day did not end there as we went grocery shopping later to pick up some food for the week at Safeway. Whew, at dinner Sophie slept while eating (that is sad, I think I ran her a little too much) and wouldn't wake up. 7 p.m. and both girls were done!

Tomorrow will be a great day too as we head to Gymboree and later celebrate Uncle Micah's birthday at a San Mateo park :)

The car and glitz of the store did not fool Hannah into believing that this was gonna be good.

After all that Hannah is still crying. This is her finished haircut pic.

She was very cheery before she headed off to bed.

Sophie explored the store and had fun playing with the gym structures, cars, watching tv, etc.

At the end of the haircut Sophie didn't care too much for her ribbon.

And all that running around was just too much...Zzzzzzz...

18 month check up

It's that time again for another doctor appointment...

It was really impressive that the receptionist and nurse remembered the girls and even could recognize who was who. You'd think having "Nemo" playing in the waiting room, having a very cool fish tank, and that the office had moved into a new location would ease the girls into thinking it was going to be okay. Nope! The twins were traumatized by weighing in on the scale, getting their height taken and having the doctor check them more than getting the actual shot.

Both girls grew quite a bit, but Sophie had a bigger growth spurt out of the two. Her feet grew super big too (from a 4 to probably a 5 or 6 depending on brand) and now mama has to go shoe shopping this weekend. They're also due for their first hair cut which I'll probably document this Saturday.

The only other update I have is that the girls are getting more and more fussy eating food. It's quite frustrating! Other than that the twins have been getting more and more cute and fun. Everyday I look forward to coming home to see their cute little faces and their arms stretched out reaching for me :)
