Kennedy Park

Today we skipped Gymboree as Hannah has a cold and Sophie has a running nose. It was hard to tell if Hannah is really sick as she's had allergies for the past 3 weeks and on top of that both girls are teething.

Later in the afternoon the girls felt much better and of course they were super stir crazy. We decided to take them back to Kennedy park to ride the train and do other fun stuff. We ended up riding the train, riding the merry-go-round (which we realize that Hann isn't too fond of now), the girls chased after dragonflies, and enjoyed some swinging.

Cherry picking with friends

This was the first time for anyone in our family to go cherry picking. We went to Brentwood for some cherry picking fun with Auntie Adel, Uncle Ervin, and Aiden. It was so hot that the girls were drenched in sweat a few minutes in, but mommy managed to duck between tree shades to avoid direct contact with sunlight LOL! We had so much fun, daddy caught some of it on film.

Hannah picking some cherries. The girls both started off slowly, but once they got the hang of it there was no stopping them.

Sophie was an energizer bunny! She kept picking and picking.

It was so cool that there branches close enough to the ground for the kids to pick.

Memorial Day weekend

After a sad good-bye to the Kage grandparents this morning, we decided to do something special before we head off to the daily grind. I had a great time with my babies and family this past week off from work. So I hit up my iPhone to look up some ideas of what to do and told Der to head to Berkeley where we went to Tilden Regional park.

The girls had alot of fun in the sun running around in the grass, riding a merry-go-round, and looking at farm animals (goats, cows, chickens, ducks, geese, rams, sheep, rabbits, and turkeys).

Playing out on the grassy patch in front of the Merry-go-round.

Sophie, Hannah, and WOW mommy too hahahaha!

Sophie loves animals, here she is trying to pet the cow. She was trying to communicate to him by saying "MOO!"

Hannah wanted to play with the cow too.

Sophie feeds the goat some celery with daddy's help.

The girls love bunny rabbits :)

Saturday at the Mall

Saturday we decided to hit the Great Mall out in Milpitas to get some Memorial Day shopping in for the grandparents and get some shoes for the girls. On Sunday we did the usual Gymboree and later took Nana and grandpa to get dim sum at Oriental Tea House in San Leandro.

The week went by so fast and atlas this morning the Kage grandparents went back home to Hawaii.

Forgot to mention too that Sophie is becoming quite the climber and has managed to climb out of her crib about a couple of weeks ago. We had to move the changing table because I found her out of the crib on the table ready to do a "Spiderman" down to the ground. Sophie also can close doors and try to open them (she can reach the doorknob).

Sophie having fun in a coin op train.

Sophie also rode a firetruck.

Hannah rode a Micky Mouse car, but wasn't too thrilled with the rides.

The twins kept themselves busy as well as Daddy and Grandpa while Nana and Mommy shopped for cousin Jayden.

At the Zoo

Who knew that a weekday could be so busy at the Oakland zoo? There must've been a bunch of different elementary school field trips at the time, but it was pretty crazy. Tons of little kids running here and there, but all in all we had some fun especially when the girls got to brush some goats hairs. Ironically we opted to go to the zoo versus going to the Academy of Sciences in SF on a free Wednesday to escape the crowds.

Kages in the house

The Kage grandparents arrived last night and today we had quite the adventure. Early in the morning we went to a make-up Gymboree class where the girls wore grandpa Kage out. We went for a mini-shopping spree and then had some dim sum in Fremont. The girls were pooped and ended up crashing out in the minivan. Two hours later the twins and grandpa Kage were back in action and played outside in the front yard with Emi. We also went to our complex's mini park to play. Later Auntie Adel called and we met up with her at the local Mickey D's playground where the girls had fun playing with Aiden and his cousins. They also had their first taste of a happy meal which was graciously shared by Aiden. Auntie Adel also bought them a meal. Thanks Auntie Adel!

It was a day filled with lots of fun and the girls fell asleep without a peep of noise at about 8:15 p.m. which is a success in mommy's book :D

Atsui desu ne

Yesterday we met up with Uncle Ray and Auntie Flo at the Thai temple on the border of Fremont and Union City. We had a blast eating all the food (mango sticky rice, bbq chicken, pad thai, etc YUM!) and catching up with them. The weather decided to scorch that day and it was reading 98 degrees off of my Sienna. We were all baked and had to recover with some AC in the house. Sadly we didn't take pics (I think we were just trying to keep cool) at the temple, but here are some pics of the girls playing after the sun was setting in our front yard.

Also I've noticed that the girls really like bugs! Where did they get that fascination is beyond me because I CANNOT stand them at all. They also love being outside and love flowers, leaves, and trees.

They were sporting their Hawaiian attire yesterday courtesy of Uncle Jay. They got alot of attention for being dressed up like little island girls :) Thank you Uncle Jay!

Thank you Auntie Flo and Uncle Ray for lunch!

Mini popsicles

Just when you think it's cold, it gets hot. Summer decided to show up early I guess... Saturday we decided to keep cool by buying some Popsicles and ice-cream. The cutest thing in the stores are these mini popsicles made for toddlers (Uncle Eric gave Hannah it first a while back). Man they think of everything these days.

Hannah's first reaction to the popsicle.

Do you want this? She did end up eating it, but she's just not as keen on popsicles as she is for froyo or ice-cream. Which is really strange because she likes tart things where as Sophie doesn't. But look at Sophie...

Sophie loves popsicles!

Look at that goofy smile!

A Fun Day in the Sun!

The girls finally get some time with mommy!!! We went to a Castro Valley park and tried out some new sand toys that mommy bought. Earlier in the day we went to Gymboree and after that we went to have dim sum with some friends. What a great mommy day!

Too bad it was a short weekend, but mommy is looking forward to next week where she can spend quality time with us and the Kage grandparents. :)

In other news the girls are picking up more and more words and still continue to surprise us. This morning Hannah woke up and said, "Sophie sleeping." Which was so cute! Sophie said the same thing yesterday about Hannah, but Hannah had been sleeping in her highchair while eating lunch and Sophie was notifying daddy what had happened. There are so many other things they can say and do, but I have a bad memory... The pics below capture some of today's events.

Sophie gets really dirty, while Hannah makes sure she's nice and clean (she had Derek and I clean her hands off every so often).

Decked out in hats and some sunscreen the girls enjoy the sun way more than mommy does.

Sophie loves the sandbox! She loved it so much I had to pry her away from it.

A rare shot of the girls not fighting over toys!!!

Mommy decides to join in on the fun.

Soph Soph enjoyed some of daddy's Tony Roma's ribs hahaha!

Sophie hears so many rules from mommy and daddy all the time, she finally gets to reinforce it on someone else. "Get down! You're gonna fall!"
