Had a bad day
Mommy was having a bad day today as she found out that Aloha Airlines was closing their doors tomorrow. We can thank Uncle Huey for giving us the heads up. Mommy spent the better part of the night scrambling to find flights heading out of the bay area over to the islands (3 hrs to be exact). With sheer determination like the crazy mommy we know we have (And with words we're not suppose to hear. Good thing she put us to bed!), we are right on track to the homeland. We will be seeing the ohana and learning what it is like to be a "local girl" from da islandz....YAY!!!

7 around the corner
Weekends are truly special as we try to spend as much quality time with the girls. Although today was a bit on the bumpy side because Miss Hannah has a tooth coming in on the bottom, front and center she was a bit fussy today :( Shawntay, Bethany, and Lily came to visit us today and unfortunately there are no pics of the Banana because she was napping (after all that crying earlier) while I went trigger happy. We had a fun girls day out with the exception of one male attendee called Daddy LOL, but that soon ended as he went out tonight and we had us a girls' night home. We played with our toys, had the Ko's visit, and watched some chick flicks until we went to bed.

Rollin' with the homies
The girls are starting to roll over on their own. Sophie can roll over when we put her down, Hannah needs some coaxing, but she does do it on her own when she wants to. The girls also have been eating some tropical fruits (the Gerber ones) and they like what we tried so far: mango, guava, and tonight papaya...Hawaii here we come!!!

Where's the Easter Rabbit?
So Soph Soph has found her voice and has let everyone know that she found it by setting record breaking levels throughout the room. It was cute the first time, but...ah yeah... Meanwhile Miss Hannah is gabbing femininely with her nice sweet, "Naa maa aaaa". I can see where this is leading and maybe I'm calling it too soon, but I think Sophie is gonna be a tomboy and Hannah is gonna be a princess.
Other small tidbits are Hannah is starting to sit up on her own, her favorite toy is the plastic keys that cousin Julius gave to us, she loves playing peek-a-boo, and enjoys our walks to Starbucks with Aunty Liz and Lauren. Oh, and she's finally got the jumping down. Yay Banana!
Sophie is into everything these days and loves putting everything in her mouth. She has great coordination with her toys and likes to throw them everywhere. She has already grabbed Pika's (the Ko's cat) tail and smacked Emi (our dog) a couple of times. Sophie's favorite toy is the ball that cousin Julius gave to us. Her next favorite toy is the cellphone that I bought for her. She too likes playing peek-a-boo and going on our walks to Starbucks (there isn't another decent cafe in walking distance, so forgive me my fellow Jazzlanders!!!).
Things we're trying to teach are: waving "Hi"and "Bye", signing milk, signing eat, signing "all gone", standing up by grabbing our fingers, reaching out to motion "carry me", rolling over, not to grab mommy's hair (hahaha), and swatting their toys in their car seats (ok, so that one is a specific Sophie one).
Both girls seem to like the new food I introduced to them: guava, apples and blueberries, winter squash, spinach and potato, pears and mango, and peach banana oatmeal. Thankfully they're not picky eaters and pretty much eat everything they're given. We tried apple juice and water and unfortunately they're not into that (what can I say they love their milk), but we're about to introduce the sippy cup so we'll see how that goes.

Weekend Haps
We do our weekend walk with Aunty Liz and Lauren although only one of us can go. Hannah went yesterday and Sophie got to go today. We also went to check out Happy Fish Swim School yesterday out in Fremont with the Ko's. Since mom and dad are from the islands they're keen to keeping it real and are making us munchkins learn to be water babies (actually mommy was a water baby, so she wants us to follow in her footsteps).
We went to Aunty Neren's house last night and did a Say My Name re-union of rock band which was really fun! Mommy will post pics up when she gets them from Aunty Neren.
Not much going on other than we love mango baby food and mommy loves it too! We also have guava and papaya to taste. YUM!

What have you done lately?
Mommy's been tired, so she hasn't been able to update the blog. Today a second burst of energy hit her, so she decided to post before we got home today with daddy. The other weekend was Dana's birthday we all celebrated at Eric's house (see pic below).
This past weekend we got to go shopping with Aunty Dana and mommy bought us all these great outfits, swimsuits, etc (and last weekend as well hahahaha). Below we're sporting some cute hats! In recent times Hannah has been a little chatterbox at home, but outside the home not so much. Sophie has gotten in on the action by squealing and making strange noises that Uncle Eric and Aunty Liz imitates. Other than that not much else going on other than we're planning a trip to Hawaii next month for a few days to meet family and friends. We're so excited because we haven't been home in over a year!
Hannah getting good in the jumperoo and sporting her hat. Sadly she had a rash that day on her cheeks :(

Happy Girl's Day!
Hina-matsuri or Girl's day. I haven't celebrated this holiday since I was a little girl. I remember having all these glass cased dolls that were given to me when I was a baby. Mom and Dad Sakai reminded me of this holiday, thanks!!! I dressed the girls up in the outfits that the Grandparents gave to the girls and put up the dolls.
Also today the girl's had their 6th month check-up, so here are their stats as of today:
Hannah:
Weight: 15 lbs 5 oz
Length: 24.25"
Sophie:
Weight: 18 lbs 6 oz
Length: 25.5"
So Hannah is in the 10% range for her length and 25% in weight. Sophie is 50% in height and 90% in weight. I guess it wasn't in my head that Hann was so darn light, in comparison she was 3 lbs lighter than Soph!!! The outcome in this is that Sophie will be on a sort of diet, which means we'll replace one milk meal with water. The doc also suggested more veggies and to move on to 2's for baby food, so Sophie can have more variety in veggies. The stressed advice was more tummy time, so we'll have to let our childcare provider know that. Other than that the girls are healthy and our next doctor appointment will be in 3 months for the 9 month check up.
Another note last night the girls moved into their own room and slept in separate cribs. Sophie had problems last night adjusting to the new situation, but it did not phase the Banana.

Dim Sum!
Today we had dim sum with some old friends of ours: Ray, Flo, Dana, Vincy, Micah, Eric, Liz, and Lauren. Eric had found a place off of Yelp to check out called Fu Lam Moon out in Fremont. It wasn't too bad. It was a fun day hanging out with everyone! We ate lunch, shopped, and watched a movie at Uncle Eric's house.
