I scream, you scream, we all scream...

...for ICE-CREAM!!!

We took the girls to Fenton's (ice-creamery out in Oakland) for lunch for their birthday. The girls were amazed at everyone in the joint singing happy birthday to them and they share mommy's love for ice-cream. Sophie ate so much ice-cream I thought she would be expelling some of it later in the day (we stopped her after she ate half of the huge scoop and she cried wanting more. I think she would've ate the whole thing if we let her). Hannah liked ice-cream too, but the petite little eater she is only barely ate the surface of her scoop. The scoops at Fenton's are huge by any adult standards, so even I couldn't finish one scoop (milk chocolate ice-cream is the best by the way).

Before their ice-cream they also had their first meal, that wasn't baby food from a jar (they also like chow mein, they eat bites of my meal from time to time), which consisted of chicken bites, french fries, and Sophie strangely like pickles (she took it off Auntie Liz's plate...sorry).

Sophie and her birthday ice-cream scoop :) Vanilla yum!

Hannah and her huge scoop! Yum yum!

Hannah sporting an asian flare outfit with a 20's sort of look. My little cutie!

Hey!!!

Lately Sophie says, "uh oh" over and over and Hannah says, "no, no, no". Hmmm...I wonder what mommy says to the girls???

Sophie continues to get stronger and stronger with walking. She moves quite fast and keeps all of us on our toes. Hannah is moving around as well and gets stronger everyday, but she still is not walking on her own.

Thank you Auntie Liz, Uncle Eric, and Lauren for the cute shoes! Thanks to Auntie Tamara for Hannah's pink outfit.

Happy First Birthday Sophie and Hannah!

Hannah opening Grandma and Grandpa Sakai's birthday gift.

Mommy helps us.

Ooh pretty outfits and fun toys.

Sophie really loved the ribbons!

Both girls love ribbons.

We could go on with this...

Hannah said ok, that's enough!

It's been a whole year and mommy and daddy cannot believe how fast time flies. From belly to infants to toddlers the twins are miracles. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. Today is quite a special day! The girls will be celebrating their birthday today by eating some red velvet cupcakes that mommy baked and having their first ice-cream at Fenton's today with their BFF Lauren. Yes, today mommy is spoiling the girls rotten :P

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Sakai and Auntie Joy and family for the b-day gifts!

The Three Musketeers

All three girls love straws. Soph and Hann's favorite is the Starbucks green straw. Here Sophie shows her appreciation for her straw.

It's so yummy! Meanwhile Lauren is playing.

Daddy got us a new toy box. Sophie finds she likes being in the toy box instead of taking the toys out to play. Hannah was fussy and learned to stay away, close her eyes, or turn away from the camera....Bah!

Sophie crying as she steps into the toy box.

Hannah finally a quick shot.

Let's move the toy box.

Over to the side!

Everyone on the choo choo train

It's playtime!

Show me your mean face Sophie...Grrrrrrr!

How about you Hannah...Grrrrrr!!!!!

Let's play girly girl with our purse.

Everyone on the choo-choo train. Thank you Eileen!

Here the girls clap to the Winnie the Pooh song.

Winnie the Pooh...
Winnie the Pooh...
Tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff.
He's Winnie the Pooh...
Winnie the Pooh...
Willy nilly silly old bear.

On a side note Soph Soph has been climbing. She's so mischievous as she uses everything she can (pillows and her toy box) to climb on to get out of the playpen. Both girls can't really sit still anymore and if they're antsy, while you hold them they will try to escape by pushing you away. We are not looking forward to the 5 hour flight back to the homeland.

Close my eyes

This weekend the girls got to tag along as we took Emi for a follow up appointment. Later we went to Cupertino as we were running an errand. Mommy took the girls and Emi for a walk around the shopping center across from DeAnza College where Mommy went to school. It was a walk down memory lane for Mommy as she reminisced about the coffee shop she often visited while attending school. The girls were on the road for a good part of the day and was exhausted by the time we got home. Mommy wonders if she'll ever take us to SJSU someday hahahah!

Sunday we spent time at home for most of the day, but managed to go out and get some yogurt from Yoswirl. The girls love eating the original tart frozen yogurt and they got some cute little books that Mommy bought while waiting for some friends to join us.

Here Hannah looks so funny with her mouth open while she sleeps. Hmmm...who does she take after?

Sophie likes to play with her food. Here she is squishing her favorite champagne grapes.

Hand it over!

Sharing is caring, but not in this video. Soph is still having problems learning to share. Here it sounds as if Hannah is saying "Hand it over" and what's hilarious is the face she makes after she takes it.

Baby Steps

I went trigger happy tonight and decided to catch the girls in action. Here I finally caught Sophie walking and Hannah crawling (they do it so much these days that it isn't hard to get on film anymore, just a little persuasion for the taping). It's hard to get good still pics of them. Hann used to pose for the camera, now she turns away. They both don't like the flash, so when they see the camera out they tend to look away.

Hannah says, "I got mommy's cell phone." Meanwhile Sophie is waiting for her chance to snatch it away.

Hann and Soph. The Banana got a booboo on her noggin.

Soph Soph loves that toy piano.

Soph walking to mommy.

Sophie getting the meerkat from mommy. Sophie can say mama and dada and associate the words with each of us. She can also associate the fan and her meerkat stuffed animal.

Here Hann is crawling toward my cell phone, she really loves my cell phone. She also loves the tv remote. I like to balance toys on her head for some reason because she's so laid back and to tell you the truth it's just plain funny. She will take the item off her head and then try to put it back on her head. She mimicks me in clicking her tongue in her mouth. She picks things up very fast. She is quite the observer.

So many fun things

This weekend the girls went to Lake Elizabeth in Fremont where they enjoyed swinging on the baby swings. To Derek's dismay, I slid the girls down the baby slides. Of course I was holding on to them, so it wasn't really sliding without any support. The twins really enjoyed the park, but the park is somewhat far from where we live. I will need to find a closer park! Unfortunately no pics were taken on that hot, hot day.

The next day I wasn't feeling good, so we played hooky from swim class. Later in the afternoon I felt better and decided to give Emi a treat. We packed the girls and headed to Drigon Park in Union City. It was once again a very hot day, so while Emi was playing with the other dogs in the small doggy area the girls and I went searching for shade in the big dog area. Eventually Der took Emi to the big dog area to toss the ball around and somehow all the dogs ended up following suit. Some bigger dogs rushed up to Sophie and gave her doggie kisses all over and she didn't mind. Later a beagle puppy licked Sophie all up too and Sophie loved every second. It gives me great joy that the girls love animals just as I do. Once again the camera was left in the minivan...darn!

Later that night we went to Auntie Adel's house where the girls had alot of fun playing with all of Aiden's toys. Both Auntie Adel and Uncle Ervin were gracious enough to have us over for dinner. The food was delicious! We did manage to take some pics :)

Hannah baby!

Sophie running around like the energizer bunny.

The girls had fun running around the big living room.

Auntie Adel managing to hold my two big babies.

Thank you to Adel and Ervin!

Here comes trouble

Hannah is now standing and crawling around in her crib. She is becoming more and more mobile which means double the trouble.

Here we are trying to get Hannah to interact with the puppet, but she was more into where her binky was. I had the binky in my hand above the puppet that's why she's looking up.

Sophie loves the puppet too.

And the puppet loves Sophie too.

These days the girls are having trouble going to bed. I'm not sure if it's because of the warmer weather we are having or if it's because they're moving around more or is it because of their teething. I guess I should read my parenting books...

I've found that the girls like (excluding baby food and listing adult food) champagne grapes, bananas, apples, and blueberries. Fish, chicken, rice, pita bread, bread, cooked yam, chow mein noodles, and plain tart yogurt.

Thank you Auntie Joy for the puppet!

Bath time and Dress up

Mommy wanted pics of us taking a bath in the sink while we still could fit in the sink. Mommy and Hannah.

Hannah wearing her pink wash cloth as a hat.

Mommy and Sophie looking at mister ducky.

Sophie eating mister ducky.

Derek's co-worker John gave the girls some spiffy looking headbands that are just too darn cute. Here we are trying to get them to smile at the camera, but Sophie is just not having it. Hannah is strangely fine, usually it's the other way around.

Our last pic before the girls take their headbands off their head. We'll try again when Sophie is in a better mood.

Thanks John for the headbands!

Eating Biscuit Revisited

I had a busy week with work, so there wasn't a whole lot of posting. Right now it's a bit late, but I figured I'm up and it's about time to post one up as the girls hit 11 months not too long ago.

Some updates:

Hannah has been doing her version of crawling for about 2 weeks now. I will need to film it and post it, but to get her going it usually involves either a toy she really wants or some food. Other than that Miss Hann will not budge. Hannah also surprised us by standing on her own for a couple of seconds...probably twice. She still loves cruising along the gate, exersaucer, couch, whatever she can latch onto. She's also a great imitator and likes to copy her mama. Things she likes to copy me on are when I point, when I sing, if I clap my hands, wave my hands in the air, and misc words. She is able to sign milk (we've been slacking on teaching new signs). The great thing about Hannah is that she learns pretty quick. Today I taught her how to put a toy into a box, she copied me and did it, but Sophie, on the other hand, has issues letting go of any object in her possession. For some reason babies really like fans (we first witnessed Lauren being able to point out a fan), so whenever I say where's the fan? All heads turn upward....Hannah will actually point to it.

Sophie has mastered crawling, sit to stand, etc and can actually walk a few steps. Today she walked probably 4+ steps towards me and of course I did not capture it on film, so you'll have to take my word for it. She's also using the walker to go everywhere when I'm doing some household chores and managed to get into trouble a few times. She can pet "nice nice" with Kiki and Emi. She speaks her own cute babble. She's also really good with figuring out how to get objects into her crib or gate by maneuvering the objects sideways to get it through the bars. I'm working with her on letting go objects, so she learns how to share. She enjoys dancing, music, clapping hands, and seems to be a sort of an entertainer. She will stand in front of you smiling and "show off". She knows how to give "five", wave bye bye, and wave hi. She's also very communicative when letting me know when she's hungry (hee hee hee!).

Hannah making a funny face while making funny noises blowing air through her lips.

Sophie always on the go. Here she's playing with the toy piano.

The girls are teething, Hannah has about 9 teeth (Soph has 8) and now both girls really enjoy the biscuits we bought for them. Here Hannah has fun eating them and from the looks of it how much really gets into the mouth?

Looks like Hannah was feeding her hair, nose, eyes, etc.

Sophie is an expert at eating and knows not to feed her hair, nose, etc.

Eating biscuits still is a messy event. Sophie looks like she's sharing a piece of biscuit with mommy.

Can I have that camera?

I can pick up a ball!

Meeting a new friend

Today we went to town shopping for some luggage for our trip home to Hawaii. Along the way we dropped by Uncle Hsin and Auntie Sonya's house where we met Mia and Kit.

Mia and Sophie decided to taste the tags on all the Snoopy dogs.

Meanwhile Hannah took a cat nap while the girls played.

Sophie enjoying all the Snoopy's as Kit looks on.

Hannah finally gets up with some car seat hair.

Soph, Hann, and Daddy.

Here Auntie Sonya is holding Mia, Uncle Hsin is holding Sophie, and Mommy is holding Hannah.

Close up shot. Looks like a Charlie's Angels shot hahahhaa!

Sophie takes a few steps on her own!

Here Hsin is trying to tell the girls to look at Kit, but they all end up looking at him instead.

Mia saying good-bye to Hannah.
