Feeling Better

The girls are back in the swing of things after being sick for a couple of days. Today was the first day back to daycare and I really missed them a lot and couldn't wait to see them when I got home. I think every time I get back to the work week I realize the time I have with them on the weekend is only a short amount of time and they are growing up so quickly I feel that time is quickly slipping by.

We are looking forward to spending more time with the girls when we go on vacation to visit friends and relatives next month. We will be celebrating Halloween in Hawaii this year :) Prices for the holiday season were way too expensive and this time we pay for their seats since they made 2 yrs old, so we opted for out of season tickets.

Sophie works on mommy's laptop.

Hannah is playing on mommy's netbook.

My sassy future systems administrator.

Sophie with her favorite stuffed animals that she takes everywhere with her. Pooh bear and Eeyore.

Hannah tired and fussy.

Sophie and Hannah posing with their Totoro friends. They saw the movie recently and love Totoro :) They know a couple of Japanese words like Totoro, momo (peach), ohayoo gozaimasu (good morning), bocha (bath), nene (sleep), and oyasumi (good night). Overall though we know they know more Mandarin more than any other language as I hear certain sounds often (people comment that they are speaking Mandarin - Shanghai), they sing and count too. I try to keep up by watching Ni Hau Kai Lan, so I know some words that my Soph Soph and Pooky bear are saying ;)

Yo Gabba Gabba funny face time!

Sophie walks up stairs without holding on to anything and Hannah is being her silly self. Sophie is really strong and has been walking up stairs, climbing up everything she can, opening doors, opening refrigerators, etc. Hannah is not far behind as she is starting to climb out of her crib, climb on everything, tries to basically do what Sophie does.

Google babies

The twins have had colds for the past few days, but today they were finally feeling better (Daddy stayed home with the girls on Friday and Saturday was mellow). They were feeling so much better that they became stir crazy and we had to take them out.

In the morning we took the girls out to dim sum at our fave place in San Leandro where we bumped into our neighbor/friend's parents. After brunch Soph took a cat nap only lasting the car ride back and Hannah ended up napping close to two hours. The girls soon wanted out of the house to play play, so we took them to Castro Valley park where they made friends with a very cute hapa boy.

Later we met up with Ranvir and her son, Auntie Adel, Aiden, and Uncle Ervin at their house in Union City. Aiden was recovering from a cold just like the girls. And so it was a mini Google babies reunion... (Adel, Ranvir, and myself used to work at Google).

Auntie Adel with Aiden, Mommy with Hannah, Ranvir with Sophie, and Ranvir's son in front.

Sophie and Hannah had popscicles from Auntie Adel and the sugar high worked so well that Sophie started break dancing.

Oh also a bit of a tidbit - I cut Sophie's bangs, so if her hair-do looks a little strange it's my fault LOL!

Thanks we had fun!

Got fun?

The girls had lots of fun on Sunday. We met up with Auntie Adel and family for some brunch at Kalesa (yummy Filipino food), then headed to Castro Valley for some fun at the water park. After a long nap (almost 2 1/2 hrs) we played with Lauren at our local playground whew! Mommy and daddy then took us to dinner at the Naked Fish (Japanese food). After dinner we went to Safeway and the nice cashier gave us stickers to play with.

Vanessa's Red Egg and Ginger Party

On Saturday we went to Vanessa's red egg and ginger party in South San Francisco. The girls had fun with some matching pink kitty balloons and they loved the seafood soup. We had to leave early as the girls were tired. Sorry Kelly!

Here are some pics...

Thank you Kelly and Gil for inviting us!

Happy Birthday Eamon!

Today we celebrated Eamon's third birthday at his home. We had lots of fun playing with Eamon, Ethan, Samantha, Auntie Neren, Auntie Berry, Uncle Mark, Auntie Anna, Uncle Benson, Uncle Oliver, Auntie Maan, and other guests.

Sophie loved the bouncy house and bounced most of her day away. Hannah enjoyed the sandbox and Eamon's car.

Congratulations to Angie and Chris!

Tonight we celebrated Angie and Chris's wedding reception at her house in San Jose. The girls had a great time meeting up with some old friends of ours from when we first moved to San Jose some 14 yrs ago in the famous 383 house (Christie, Warren, Uncle Alan (our old roomie and Angie's brother), Angie's family, etc.

The girls didn't really eat food as there was pasta and we all know how the girls take to pasta. The alternative to that was brownies and Peter's bakery toasted almond cake. Ahh yeah, but hopefully we'll eat some really healthy food tomorrow!

Earlier in the day we took the girls to another MacDonald's indoor playground in Hayward (as it was raining). They made friends with an older boy that was commentating their play, but he didn't have the courage to climb up the structure (it was so cute and funny). The girls were both too short to climb up the structure, so instead they found another way up through the slides. Both girls got all the way up to the top, but Sophie got really scared and couldn't come down or she couldn't even move. Hannah was the daredevil going through the mesh nets and coming up and and down the slide. Meanwhile Sophie was crying through the mesh nets and literally was a deer in headlights stuck up at the top of the structure. Some 15 mins later daddy rescued our poor Sophie down the slide.

Hannah, Christie, Mommy and Sophie.

Auntie Christie still the same fun kid loving gal :)

Daddy with Sophie, Uncle Alan, and little Hannah down below. Sophie really likes Alan, we think she loves men in suits :P

Hannah tries to squirm away. Hannah doesn't care too much about men in suits. Just kidding you know she loves ya Uncle Alan!

A cute pic of Sophie and Daddy!

I couldn't get good close-up pics, so I took this pic of Hannah upside down and put it right side up.

Also birthday wishes to Auntie Flo yesterday!

Thank you to Uncle Granty and Auntie Hai for the cute dresses!

What to do on a hot day?

Sophie with a goofy smile in her new swimsuit.

Hannah in her swimsuit looking worried.

Earlier in the day on Friday the girls went to Castro Valley park where they ran through the water park. They didn't use their swimsuits... At home later in the day it was still really hot and so mommy decided that she couldn't really set up the water pool, so she ended up hosing us down on the driveway. Hannah wasn't having any of it, but Sophie really enjoyed the cold water.

Castle full of princesses

Mommy had this week off from work and yesterday we had fun going to the MacDonald's playground, going to mommy's friend's house and playing with some boys around our age, walking Emi, and playing princess.

To the girls playing princess was a little more like playing "let's go camping". They were running in and out of the castle tent, putting their toys and chairs in. It started to get crazy when there was baby wrestling inside, flipping the castle upside down and eventually mommy took the castle away (I guess that is like real royalty life LOL!). The girls love playing with the castle!

This is before they got rowdy...

Princess Hannah looks to see who's at the castle's door.

Then Princess Sophie checks.

Mommy put Hannah's hair in some pigtails.

Princess Sophie takes Pooh bear (her bff stuff animal) with her to her castle.

'Til next time! The girls try to shut the door on me. Silly girls!!!

Thanks to Kelly and family for Castle gift!

Hap Magee Ranch Park

We mostly celebrated the labor day weekend by relaxing at home, but we did visit some parks as well. We went to our usual Castro Valley Park (they had the water fountains on, but I forgot to pack the swimsuits). On Monday we ventured out to somewhere we don't usually go to...

We found a great little park called Hap Magee Ranch out in Danville. Where they had two playgrounds - one for younger children and one for older. There is a sandbox and a water fountain (wasn't turned on and of course I packed the swimsuits!). There was also a beautiful dog park too! The girls had fun playing in the sun and looking at the dogs. Later we went to a restaurant called The Rising Loafer Cafe & Bakery (which wasn't that good, but the original place we were going to was too busy). The girls enjoyed eating some scrambled eggs, french toast, and surprisingly they loved PINEAPPLE! Yes, daddy and mommy was saying to the girls that Grandpa Sakai would be proud of them. The downtown is really cute and reminded us of Los Gatos.

The girls exploring the park.

Sophie and Hannah swinging away.

Let's ride the train!

Toot toot!

Sophie drives the train.

Here some boys were nice enough to push the merry go round for the girls.

"I see daddy!" - Hannah yells

Forgot to add that we had success for Sophie poopoo in the potty last Sunday. Although they're not consistent we are on our way.....hopefully!

Thank you Uncle Jay for the cute outfits!

The Big 2!

We had a small gathering of the girls' friends to help celebrate their 2 year birthday.

Thank you Auntie Joy, Uncle Kip, and Julius for the nice books! The girls enjoyed opening presents from Auntie Joy and family, Grandma and Grandpa Sakai, and Uncle Jay.

Auntie Vincy had just conspired with Uncle Eric for a whipped cream shot. This is the aftermath.

Here is an action shot of Lauren with Auntie Vincy.

Sophie, Hannah, and Audrey playing. Can't wait to have those princess parties :P

Cutie Enzo and his great bib.

Cutie Tyson was all smiles!

Another cutie, Eamon enjoyed some cake.

Some reason uploading this pic didn't turn out so well as you can see, but I was too lazy to fix it. So here is sideways pic of the girls' cake.

Hannah eating her favorite...ice-cream!

Sophie eating some ice-cream. They take after mommy :)

Here we are with Kelly and our new friend Vanessa :)

Our very cute friend Aiden!

We missed a pic of our friend Ethan :(, but we did have fun playing with him!

Thank you for celebrating with us!
